Textbook Media is pleased to welcome Kevin Doran as Chief Technology Officer. Kevin joined the company in October 2025, bringing more than 15 years of experience in software engineering and technology management.
For a company built around making textbooks more accessible, technology has always been part of the publishing work. A book needs to reach the student who ordered it; an instructor needs a straightforward way to evaluate it; and the people supporting both need systems they can rely on. Kevin’s role brings dedicated technical leadership to that work.
Experience across teams and disciplines
Kevin studied computer sciences and history at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His career has included leading engineering teams internationally and consulting with education and legal technology companies on software products, hiring, and e-commerce.
He also brings a personal connection to publishing. As Tom Doran’s son, Kevin grew up around textbooks and the conversations that accompany them: what instructors need, how students use course materials, and how a small publisher can serve both well.

Supporting the next chapter
As Textbook Media Press expands its STEM catalog, the work behind the books matters alongside the books themselves. Clear information, dependable access, and responsive support all contribute to the experience of using a textbook in a course.
Kevin will help guide the company’s technology in support of those needs, working with the publishing and fulfillment team. We are pleased to welcome him to the business and look forward to the experience and perspective he brings.
