Independent educational publishing involves more than developing a good manuscript. Once a book is ready for a course, there is still the work of making it available, processing orders, delivering the format a student selects, and answering questions along the way.

Textbook Media’s publishing services grew from that practical work. Alongside our own Textbook Media Press imprint, we have supported educational publishers with digital and print fulfillment, serving students directly and through college bookstores.

The work behind a publication

Our existing publishing-partner program brings together eBook delivery, print-on-demand options, and fulfillment for direct and bookstore orders. It also supports a choice of formats and the pairing of textbooks with supplementary materials.

For an independent publisher, these are connected decisions. The formats offered to students affect the ordering experience. The way a title is presented affects the questions an instructor or bookstore will ask. Fulfillment and customer support need to reflect the publication and the people using it.

A useful partnership begins with understanding those needs. A publisher with an established course-adoption list may need different support from one preparing a first title, and the scope of a service arrangement should follow from that conversation.

A considered approach

As we develop Textbook Media Press’s next chapter, we are also taking a fresh look at how we explain our work with independent publishers. Our aim is to make the services and the responsibilities involved clear, so that a potential partner can judge whether the arrangement fits its publishing program.

This is an introduction to the work we already do. Publishers seeking background can read the For Publishers overview or contact our team to discuss their needs.
