In 2024, Textbook Media Press marks 20 years since its founding. What began in 2004 with a focus on business and economics has developed into a publishing program with offerings in mathematics and biology as well.
The reason for doing the work remains straightforward: instructors need course materials they can teach from with confidence, and students need to be able to afford the books those courses require.
Publishing with the classroom in mind
Twenty years is a useful point at which to look back at that commitment. Every adoption begins with an instructor deciding whether a book fits a course. The questions are practical as well as academic. Does the text cover the right material? Is its approach appropriate for the students? Can they obtain the format they need at a manageable price?
Those questions connect the editorial work of selecting and developing books with the daily work of presenting, delivering, and supporting them. They give a small press a clear measure of what it is trying to accomplish.

We thank the authors who have entrusted us with their work, the instructors who have considered and adopted our books, and the students who have used them. We also thank the booksellers and colleagues whose work helps course materials reach the people who need them.
As Textbook Media Press enters its third decade, we look forward to continuing those relationships and introducing books to new classrooms. The subjects and formats will continue to develop; making useful course materials affordable will remain at the center of the work.
